WSMS 7th Grade Girls Open Season With Wins
Willow Springs 7th grade girls started their season off by sweeping Rockwall Cain on November 12th at WSMS. The three Lady Leopards teams (A,B,C) combined to score 98 points on the night while only alowing 18 points.
The B team opened the night with a 22-10 win over the Mustangs from Cain. The Mustangs kept the game close in the first period with WSMS holding a 6-4 lead but the Leopards shutout Cain in the second period to take a 9-4 lead at half. WSMS never looked back in route to the win 22-10. Top scores: Kamyrn Messick 8pts, Sara Morefield 6pts, and McKenna Brand, MaKenna Adamson and Naomi Morales all with 2pts.
The A team took control early in the first period jumping out to a 15-2 lead and cruised to a 27- 2 lead at half. The offense continued to click for the Leopards and the press defense kept the Mustangs from getting into any rhythm on offense leading to a final score of 50-4. Top scorers: Anniyah Baynesnt 11pts, Bethanie Wu 8pts, Skylar Rucker 7pts, Kailey Littlefield 7pts, and Caroline Collins 6pts.
In the final game of the night the C team completed the sweep for the Leopards with a 26-4 win over Cain. Willow Springs scored six points in the first period and six more in the second to take a 12-2 lead into half. The scoring continued for WSMS as they dropped 10 in the third period to put the game out of reach.
