LISD’s Fine Arts Festival Celebrates Performing and Visual Arts
Lovejoy Independent School District recently celebrated its annual Fine Arts Festival at Lovejoy High School on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Students from all grade levels were invited to showcase performing and visual arts. The event began with performances by Sloan Creek Intermediate, Willow Springs Middle and Lovejoy High bands, followed by performances from middle and high school cheerleaders. Lovejoy’s Color Guard and Majestics dance team performed, along with many orchestra and theatre groups. A visual art gallery featured work from students across the district.
A craft area was available for boys and girls to enjoy after stopping by to let Santa Claus know which toys were on each Christmas list. Volunteers were on hand selling baked goods including cake, cookies, cupcakes and brownies, along with banana nut, blueberry and lemon poppy seed muffins. In addition, chili and a variety of candy was also available for purchase.
LISD Superintendent Ted Moore happily said, “It was nice to see so many of you at the Fine Arts Festival this past weekend. The Fine Arts Festival is always one of my favorite events, and this year was no exception. The talents of students showcased in both the performing and visual arts was extraordinary. Congratulations to the students and staff members on an exemplary Festival.”
