Fairview is Awash in Holiday Cheer
Fairview’s Christmas Celebration is an annual event where, Town Manager Julie Couch said during her welcome, “…community can come together.” The event began with members of VFW Post 2195 presenting the colors. Before officially lighting the Christmas tree, Councilmember Henry Lessner gave a heartfelt voice of appreciation to the Town of Fairview staff members for the many hours they worked to produce this event and “…to keep our town looking its best.” With the assistance of his neighbors, Reese and Cian Kennedy, and surrounded by enthusiastic guests from the North Pole, Lessner lit the tree. Fairview’s tree provides a multi-colored rotating display of holiday illumination.
Attendees had the opportunity to write letters to Santa, make fun keepsake crafts, snack on seasonal treats, sip cocoa, bounce in a bounce house and enjoy holiday entertainment. Starting off the entertainment line-up was Cindy’s School of Dance, followed by Lovejoy Elementary Choir – “Double L”. Additional performances were given by Pure Movement, Fairview Youth Theatre, Allen/McKinney Dance and McKinney High School.
Throughout the event, mouth-watering aromas from nearby restaurants filled the air.
As the community meandered up and down the steps of Fairview Town Hall, they illustrated the lyrics from “What a Wonderful World”: “I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do? But they're really saying I love you.” (“What a Wonderful World” is a song by Bob Thiele (using the pseudonym George Douglas) and George David Weiss. It was first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released as a single in 1968. last.fm)
