Willow Springs 8th Grade Girls Struggle Against Ford

The Willow Springs 8th girls had the privilege of playing at the Lovejoy High School gym with the support of the Leopards JV and Varsity girls teams supporting them in the stands. Despite the losses the boisterous fans kept up the energy and support for their Leopards all night long. 
The B-team found themselves behind the Mustangs early in the first period 5-2 and strong defense from Ford extended their lead to 7-2 heading into halftime. The Leopards scored 7 points in the third period but were unable to match the offense from the Mustangs falling 32-11 in the game. Scoring for the Leopards B-team: Chaney Roberts 4 points, Logan Rose, Kaylea Norman and Olivia Lawrence with 2 points and Mia Chase 1 point. 
The A team jumped out to an early 4-1 lead against the Mustangs in the first period only to have Ford respond and tie the game at 4-4 heading to halftime. The Leopards were unable to score in the third period allowing the Mustangs to take a lead 10-4 going into the final period. The Leopards offense came to life in the final period scoring 6 points but it wasn't enough to close the gap as the A-team lost 16-10. Scoring for the Leopards A-team: Mia Anderson 6 points, Emma Bittlestone 2 points, Tori Lafon 2 points. 
Willow Springs C-Team scored 3 points in the first period and 5 points in the second period, highlighted by an amazing three point shot by Lori Carpenter, leading to an 8-8 tie at halftime. The Mustangs offense exploded in the third period and the Leopards were unable to keep up in the 23-9 loss.
