You’ll Want to Add Doux to Your Must-Doux List
By Karen Chaney
Lucas resident, Brooke Edge, opened Doux Aesthetics Bar on February 5 of this year. She chose the location, 503 W. McDermott (Suite 140 within Century Salon Suites) in Allen, because it is close to her home and close to Hwy 75. The name, ‘Doux’, is explained by a sign hanging in the spa which reads, “French for “soft” and “sweet champagne”. Two of our favorite things, soft skin and sweet bubbly.” It is pronounced ‘Du’.
Edge has been an aesthetician since 2007. She is licensed to perform facial treatments and all services offered at Doux. She said, “My main goal and focus of my business is being able to improve your skin with a combination of monthly treatments and home skincare routine so that you do not need/can prevent having to do more costly and invasive procedures like Botox, laser and plastic surgery.” The most commonly requested service has been The Rose, which is a one hour customized facial treatment ($100). They also offer the ‘Petite Rose’, customized 30 minute facial treatment ($50), the ‘Doux Peel’, chemical peel for your skin type and needs ($150), waxing brow ($15), lip or chin ($12) full face ($40) and lashes full set ($150), fill ($50), brow or lash tinting ($20). (Eyelash extensions are available on Fridays.) She describes Doux as a place for face and body treatments. Full body waxing, exfoliating and tanning are additional services they offer. Her favorite part of owning Doux is getting to improve people’s skin and appearance. She said that Doux is different from other businesses similar to hers in that she has an in-depth knowledge of the product line and that no one else uses this line of product in their treatment rooms.
Edge shared a success story of a client who came to see her because she was very broken out with acne. The client had been to a dermatologist but didn’t see improvement. After one treatment at Doux, and using the product that Edge advised her to use, this client is very pleased with her results.
Edge has been very happy with Doux’s success saying she has had more business than she anticipated. Her one year goal is to have a good retail selection and increase the amount of referrals she receives. She chose to open her own business to allow flexibility with her children’s schedule. Her five year goals are to determine her business hours based on client demand which will give her the schedule flexibility for which she chose to be a business owner.
She has three children who attend Lovejoy ISD and is very involved in the school district. She has made various donations and sponsorships to fundraising efforts. Many of her clients are from the Lovejoy community.
