Americana Personified in Lucas
April 14, 2018 – A parade of warmly clad participants lined up at Hart Elementary to kick off the festivities of the City of Lucas annual Founders Day Celebration. Lucas fire rescue department led the parade with intermittent siren blasts, show quality vehicles sparkled in the sun, scouts laughed and tossed candy, council members smiled and waved, and finishing the meandering showcase of Americana was a great group of horses, some painted, some not.
Council members awarded ribbons for a variety of categories to parade participants.
Cathey Bonczar, City of Lucas Executive Assistant/Special Projects Coordinator said, “The City of Lucas has been celebrating Founders Day since 2004.” She added, “Founders Day is a family friendly event that celebrates the history and heritage of our city.”
In addition to enjoying the parade, attendees could participate in many other activities such as stick horse rodeo and the 4-H Club Chili Cook-off. There was a historical display in the community center showcasing the history of Lucas, a balloon twister, pony rides, a petting zoo, live music, Mr. Diggs from CoServ, a pony hop event, 40+ vendor booths and more.
