Lady Leopards Lacrosse Completes Second Year Of Competition

     On May 12th the 5th/6th grade girls team and the 7th/8th grade girls team played in their final games of the season at Sloan Creek Intermediate School.  The 5th/6th grade team competed against Rockwall and the 7th/8th grade team competed against Texoma, which is based out of Sherman/Denison.

     The 5th/6th grade Lady Leopards fell to Rockwall 6-1 and finished the season with a final record of 6-6. The lone goal for Lovejoy was scored by Claire Diaz who was also 2 out of 4 on draw controls. Defender Camryn Jones secured six ground balls in the game and goalie Brooke Starr was stellar in the goal notching nine saves.

     In the 7th/8th game the Lady Leopards took a lead into halftime but ultimately lost the game 7-6. Scoring in the game for Lovejoy included Avery Ashley and Geneva Miller with two goals each and Alexandria Willard  and Jordyn Caro with one goal each. Strong goalie play was provided by Kaitlyn Murphy who had seven saves in the game. The 7th/8th grade team finished the season with a 4-7 record.

     The Lovejoy Girls Lacrosse program started in 2017 and fields teams from kindergarten through 8th grade.  A new girls high school team will begin play in the fall of 2018.  You can find more information about the program at www.lovejoylacrosse.com
