Soccer Camp Scores With Skills And Fun

A brief rain cools things down on the field
The Lovejoy boys soccer camp, lead by head coach Alex Duran, took place on June 18th-21st at Lovejoy High School and included over 80 athletes in grades 1st through 9th. Coach Duran, former Leopards players, current players and assistants led the participants in games, skills and technical awareness that is meant to make them better player on the pitch. The kids rotated through various stations all designed to meet the goal of the day of finishing, which means to score for those not familiar with soccer terminology. Despite the focus on skill development Coach Duran noted the main purpose is for the kids to enjoy the camp, "If we are not having fun what is the point." That fun was enhanced as a rare summer rain shower blanketed the field on the final day of camp causing one young player to shout "This is the best day ever!"
