The Varsity Leopards opened the season the first week in January by going undefeated in the Georgetown tournament by defeating Oak Ridge, Connally and Vista Ridge. In the second weekend of the season Lovejoy played in the Allen tournament going 2-1 to improve to 5-1 on the season. Lovejoy has their sights set on a return to the playoffs after back to back district tiles the last two years and a regional berth in 2017.

After losing their first game of the season in a tough battle to Hebron, the Panthers looked to rebound in game three of the Allen tournament against Plano East on a cold and windy day at Allen Eagle Stadium. Lovejoy wasted no time getting on the board with Max Pabin finding the net on an assist from Benji Merrick in the first 10 minutes of the match. The Leopards would make sure the one goal was all that was needed as the defense and goalie Cooper Ginsberg recorded a clean sheet vs the Panthers in route to a 1-0 win.
