LHS Color Guard Finishes Fourth at NTCA
The Lovejoy High School Color Guard team performed at the North Texas Colorguard Association(NTCA) competition at Frisco Wakeland High School on Feb. 2. The team performed their show titled Goodnight Moon that took first place at their last NTCA competition at Centennial High School. “Our show’s goal is to take the audience to this dreamy world where we are dancing among the stars with a gorgeous moon as our backdrop,” color guard instructor David Sadler stated. “A powerful soundtrack with beautiful production details and a classic story will transport you to a time when you first heard this classic story as a kid.” After an angelic performance, the team finished in fourth place in the Scholastic A category. The team competed with nine other schools and their final score was 61.370 points. Senior captain Riddhi Pateek stated, “I am genuinely proud of the team since that was the first time we put the entire production out for the judging community, and I am happy with the placement since we beat some great teams.”
Color Guard’s next competition will be on February 9 in Coppell as they compete at Winter Guard International (WGI) at the national level. “I have hope for my team and myself that we will make finals and rank up into the next division,” color guard member Zowie Thornberg stated. The team will be rehearsing for six hours the week prior as well as adding extra details for their costumes in preparations for WGI.
