Local Realtor Meets Clients, Makes Friends
Fairview resident Wendy Herran said that she had always thought about becoming a realtor and in 2010, she made that thought a reality. Herran is a realtor with Ebby Halliday Realtors and offices at 955 SH 121, Suite 130 in Allen. Herran said she chose Ebby Halliday over other brokerage options because, “I love Ebby’s story, she’s a great inspiration and a true trailblazer. We are the market leader in the area.”
As a realtor, Herran enjoys helping people. She said, “This is a service industry, we talk about homes, schools, doctor referral and so much more.” She said that many of her clients become her friends and she loves following up with them to see how they have settled into their new home.
Every week the realtors at this office take a tour of each other’s listings. She said the majority of the listings are in Fairview, Lucas, Allen and McKinney, she adds, “I’m happy to go anywhere.” She finds this tour very helpful in matching clients’ wish lists with what is currently available.
She said that there is not a common request from buyers, “Everyone is different. Some want a big yard, some no yard. Some want hardwood, some do not. It’s important to listen.” She did say that when clients know what they are looking for the process is much easier. She tells of an unusual listing where the client was selling everything on the lot including the livestock, except for the Billy goat, he was not for sale.
Advice she gives to sellers is to get their home in the best shape possible. She said, “This might mean investing a little in new carpet or fresh paint, but this will bring them a better price.”
Whether her client is a seller or buyer, the first time she meets with them, they discuss priorities, motivation and time frame. Recently she has noticed an uptick in new home construction as well as people buying property for the lot. Once the lot is purchased, they demolish the existing home and build a new home. She said there has also been an influx of people moving here from California because of job relocations from Toyota and State Farm.
Herran knows she has been successful when her clients are happy, when they write a nice testimonial and when they refer her to family and friends. From a satisfied client, Herran received this review, “My experience with Wendy was absolutely fantastic. Her level of customer service is unbelievable. Wendy makes you feel like you are her only client. She calls or texts you back quickly with answers to questions, communicates effectively with other realtors, and makes the entire process seem simple. If you have ANY real estate needs I highly recommend contacting Wendy. You will not be disappointed. "- Kelly Brown
Herran has lived in Fairview since 2008. Her oldest son, Simon, graduated from Lovejoy High School in 2014, her daughter Sophie graduated from LHS in 2017, and her youngest, Lily is currently a junior at LHS. Herran said she loves Lovejoy schools. She remembers her first impression of Lovejoy, “Everyone went to the football games. I didn’t grow up with Friday Night Lights. I thought it was really cute.”
She loves the area and remarked on the large lots, trees and wildlife found in Lucas as well as the Town Center and trails found in Fairview and the convenient access to SH 121 and Hwy. 75.
