JV Softball defeats Frisco Heritage 11-3

On Wednesday, March 6, the Lovejoy High School JV Softball team beat Frisco Heritage 11-3, despite the game being postponed due to weather complications. Head JV Coach Mike Motsney stated that,“I was very proud of our pitching, base running, and hitting. Even though we haven’t had a lot of games this year, the girls are responding well and playing great softball each game.”

Starting out the game on the defensive side, Karsen Patterson was on the mound throughout the game striking five out while only walking two batters. The Lady Leopards played great defense behind Patterson limiting the errors in the field to only two. Because of Patterson and the impressive defense, the Coyote’s only scored three runs on one hit. Offensively, Hannah Bohnenkamper, Karsen Patterson, and Katie Dolberry lead the team with 2 RBI’s with Mia Chase and Lauren Carlson, not far behind, adding additional RBI’s as well. The Lady Leopards took advantage of the eight errors by the Coyote defense with Emma Bittlestone, Mia Chase, Liliah Garcia, and Katie Dolberry putting two runs on the board each. Avery Archer, Rachel Hoeffner, and Lauren Carlson stayed disciplined at the plate and drew walks to reach base. The team also took advantage of speed with six stolen bases on the night.
