Baseball comes out with a clean sweep in double header
On Wednesday, March 27, the JV (Red) Baseball team won both of their games against Princeton High School. Head Coach Casey Jones stated, “From a team perspective, I was happy about the good team attitudes and positive energy throughout the game.”
Starting off the successful night, the Leopards took the first game defeating the Panthers 19-0. The scoring started early on during the first inning. Foster Whissman roped a double scoring two runs. Singles by Ian Nash, Chayse Taylor, Carter Satterwhite, Michael Holden, and Foster Whissman as well as a double by Cameron Kennedy and a triple by Drew Summers led the Leopards to scoring 11 runs in the third inning alone. On the defensive side, the Leopards did not let up at any point during the game. “We talk to our players a lot about being steady, being constant,” Coach Jones stated. “Surroundings and circumstances don’t matter. We are always going to play the game the right way.” Defensively, Drew Summers allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings and struck out four hitters.
With a slow start in the beginning, the Leopards did not let down and won their second game 8-1. In the first inning, the Panthers got on the board quickly scoring one run. Eventually, the Leopards responded scoring three runs in the third inning, four runs in the fourth inning, and one run in the fifth inning. The Leopards pitching staff for the second outing was Ryker Allen and Parker Hutchins who both got the job done allowing one run on one hit. Dylan Koh and Austin Marshall both scored two runs to get the Leopards on the board. At the plate, Dylan Kohn, Weston Holbert, and Tristan Foster had two hits each.
