Leopards Dominates District Play

The Lovejoy Leopards Varsity Lacrosse team traveleld south to play the Plano East Panthers at Williams High School in Plano on Friday April 5th for their 10th game of the 2019 season.  The Leopards came into the match with an overall 6-3 record (4-0 in district) while the Panthers played host with a 1-2 district record and 5-7 overall.

The Leopards fast-paced offensive attack scored on the first two possessions of the game.  The first by #13 Attacker, Garrett Haas, kicked off his first quarter hat trick. Haas' 3 goals lead the Leopards to 6 first-quarter goals while holding the Panthers to just 2 of their own.

Dominating both faceoffs and time-of-possession allowed Lovejoy to control both ends of the field in the first half.  An 11-5 half time scoreboard showed 7 different Lovejoy players scoring in the opening two quarters.

A comfortable margin caused the Leopards to relax a bit in the second half as the Panthers scored 6 more against the Lovejoy defense.  But the offense continued to score adding 6 more goals in the 3rd quarter and another one in the 4th.  A final score of 18-11 contained two other unassisted 3-goal efforts from both #43 Midfielder, Dillon Magee and from #12, Midfielder Conor Beckett.  Garrett Haas led all scorers on the day with 6 goals.

The Leopards Lacrosse team moves to 5-0 in district play this season and are scheduled against their next district opponent on Tuesday April 16th at Parish Episcopal.
