Leopards Sweep Reedy In Round One Of Playoffs
Lovejoy claimed the Bi-district championship by defeating the Lions from Frisco Reedy in a best of three game series played at Princeton High School. The Leopards won the first game 6-3 with Jordan Yoder collecting the win with help from Harrison Durow’s 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn him the save.
In game two the Leopards completed the series win with a 8-1 victory over the Lions. Luke Stine was masterful on the mound allowing only one hit in his complete game performance. Stine was supported in the field with quality defensive play up the middle from Luke Finn and Jacob Terwilliger. The Leopards were led at the plate by Colton Laurence with three hits and Zach Smith who drove in two runs with an RBI single in the fourth to give the Leopards a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Head Coach Jason Wilson was asked about about the bottom of the lineup coming through for the early 3-0 lead and he noted “The bottom half of the order has come through all year showing that we have a deep lineup… Laurence was huge tonight with the two bunts, those little things lead to the win.”
Lovejoy is now 23-9 on the season and will face off against Highland Park in the Area Round of the playoffs next.
